Ice flasher or underwater camera

A flasher will show you the entire water column. a camera won't do that. If you are fishing for kokes, seeing that entire water column is important. Like others have said eventually you get good enough at reading the flasher you can tell how the fish are acting or if there is structure or weeds on the bottom.
