Will it work as an ice-fishing rod?

the one peice line is a new product line.

the two peice is the older line. some stores still have them in stock and or special order them in two peice.

I think zebco also makes the 2 peice cartoon line.

in my 2003 catalog all I can find is the one peice.

there is a line of cartoon rods and reel units.

there is buggs bunny, taz and tweety, including a line of products such as coolers tents fishing vest minnow dipper and mini tackle box. and lets not forget the colapsable lawn chairs.

next is the scooby combos same as above but a colapsable lawn table is added with two built in can holders.

then comes the matel, barbie pink on chartruce and pink on baby blue with all the accesories above except the tent.

and then finaly shark and kid kits. rod reel units and tackle box only.

so you are correct that the new line is only one peice units. I was thinking of the 2002 catalog. I am sure there is still old product available on special orders only.

I will have to say for the price of that unit you can buy a new ice rod and put on your light open faced spinning reel. they retail at about 10-14 bucks and I have found new rods for under 10. and some nice ones at that.

but should some one have a one peice and the reel breaks. you can cut off the rod and glue it in to a 3/4 inch diamiter dowl, (tree branch) and tape your reel to the rod. the majority of the ice rods available dont have mounts for reels, they have to be taped on.
