Will it work as an ice-fishing rod?

We have a local retailer here that has ice rods for sale right now. I'm surprised because we don't have any icefishing within 4 hundred miles from here.

There are 2 sizes available and both have the the slide on reel holders. I bought the 36in for those little blugills and tilapia and they also have a 28 inch. I guess that is the ultralight versioin for ice. Maybe I can use one of those for minnows.

The rods are selling for 9.99 each. They are pretty decent in design and they can handle some good weight.
