Hyrum Dam Miracle - a tale three years in the making
#9
My original post was long enough already so I didn't want to add anything more...but when I was about 8 years old it happened to my dad. I was there with my dad, my brother and my sister and we were bank tangling at Porcupine. My dad was busy reading his book as we kids were messing around. We looked up and his pole was gone. He thought we were playing a trick on him but when we finally convinced him of our innocence he started thinking. He climbed on a giant rock and saw a fish struggling near the surface. He threw a big treble on my sister's pole and took a cast toward the fish. The treble caught on the line. He reeled in his pole, then reeled in the fish. To my recollection it was a healthy 18"+ rainbow...but it might grow bigger with every telling.

Turns out quite a few people get a second chance with their lucky poles.

People who've recovered fish stolen poles:
my dad - Porcupine reservoir
my daughter - Hyrum Dam - twice
Silver_Eagle's son - Strawberry
ifishinxs - Otter Creek
cutter4 - Echo
big-griggs - Island Park

If it's happened to you...add your name to the list! Maybe that's group that should go in on a lotto ticket together! It would be interesting to see how long the list gets.
