Southern Utah got hit much harder with snow (and still is) than we got here. Only a few inches, tops, on the river.

I don't think a small stream is a good place for 6 buddies and two beginners. You need bigger water with lots of room and variety. How about the San Juan in NM? They've got snow too though, but its not as cold generally. Lee's Ferry?

On the Green, temperatures will likely still get above freezing this weekend, and the canyon has a little protection from winds. The Green on a cold blustery day still beats anything else in Utah for numbers of catchable fish and a good amount of fishable water. There's thousands of trout within eyesight of where you can park your vehicle to warm up at any time. And, the weather will keep everyone else home, you'll have it mostly to yourself.
