Easy mistake, no worries.
The way those cats turn they can open the chains pretty easy.
I gill and kill my fish immediately, they cant come off and an immediately gilled/ killed fish tastes better than one that died slowly.
Great tasting fish is all about getting the temperature of the flesh chilled as quickly as possible.
