Not sure how cold it was -- I would guess it was about 20 degrees. Yes I used my underwater light, but it only lasted 1 hour 15 minutes before the battery run down. Then we put it on the fishfinder battery for the last twenty minutes before we left (no fish caught during those 20 minutes). The ice was about 6 inches thick. There was a little slush in a few areas, but most of it had frozen. BTW -- we fished in about 18 feet of water on the south side.
