Kicker motor fuel tank question

Folks im running a Merc 9.8 kicker motor and i was going to put the 3 gallon gas tank for it inside of what is essentially a tupperware container to save the upholstry. My only concern was if that would create any kind of issue in terms of static electricity. I know that putting a metal tank in a pickup truck bed that has a rhinoliner in it can cause the tank to be charged and ignite the fumes. Anyone else doing that?
