No brookies in Hobble Creek and I don't think the DWR plants the creek anymore so just natural browns. A very difficult creek to fish.
Small creeks and streams are difficult to fish. The trout are very wary and spook easily. I have a 6' 4 wt fly rod just for these small streams. I used it on Lehman creek this year in the Great Basin NP chasing small Browns. I spent quite a bit of time harassing one small brown in a pool next to my campsite that hit the fly once, after that it was pretty much a no go. Middle find raised and all. I found several pools with fish so I wasn't relegated to just the one small spot. Had to sneak up on the holes so as not to spook the fish.
