OK -- so the ownership changed. But the fact is that the land has ALWAYS been private. This risk has been there all along. That has not changed.
I'm still not convinced that this is an issue. The ENTIRE lake (ie: the water) is still accessible simply by putting your float tube, pontoon, kayak, canoe, or small water craft on the water from the publicly accessible portion of shoreline.
I guess for those of us that have 18' + boats, we might have to find another lake to put our boats on. I don't find this to be a bad thing.
All this talk and fighting over Koosharem leads me to 1 single conclusion: the cutthroat are larger than I thought!!
I don't care if the new land owner makes his shoreline a "club". Their club won't change the fishery. The fishery will remain and the public can still access the water. It's all good with me.
On a side note: Judge Derek Pullan of Utah's 4th Distric Court ruled in favor of the public's right to lawfully access and recreate on ALL of Utah's public rivers and streams yesterday!! That's awesome news!! Thanks to the USAC for all the work they've poured into this!
