In theory, if the ice will support a person, it will support a snow mobile. The weight distribution is far better on a snow mobile than on foot. However, even though I know that to be true, my feeble mind keeps saying 500 lbs of machine vs 230 lbs of a person is not the same. If you break it down in surface area by square inches, the snow machine on paper out performs the person on foot. That being said, I will take my machine out on 6 inches of ice, and have many a time with no problems.
It is looking like I will be heading to Renegade in the morning. I expect the fishing to be fantastic with the bay pretty much to myself. Least wise that is the norm. Should I actually go, I will post some pictures and the results tomorrow.
