I was up there today with my wife hunting for the elusive perch. Arrived at 7:15 am and was the first out on the ice at Rabbit Gulch. All the trails and tracks were snow blown with fresh snow from Mondays storm. The wind blew all day and any tracks we left were soon covered. I did not measure the ice thickness, but would guess it to be 12 to 16 inched thick judging from the depth my auger had to drill to get thru. Kind of scary being the first on the ice without any tracks to follow and unsure if there is a skim coat of fresh snow over thin areas. We decided to stay in the Rabbit Gulch area, but I would assume there is safe ice everywhere on the lake.
