I agree and disagree with you Dave. I agree proficency and being confident is important but the right gun is important too.
I don't care if you can hit a fly in the eye from 25 yards if you have a gun you can't trust none of that matters.
So buying a proven weapon is important, proficency and compentency is important and of course education is important. Not just shooter but whole family ( espcially kids )
Kids should not fear guns. They should understand when and when not to handle them, and how to handle them safely. I tottaly agree with Dave on taking the kids ( depending on age ) to range too.
