Yea, that is a very dangerous situation for sure. I've had the same thing happen at Mantua before and my first thought was, as my foot was going through the hole, is this a bad spot in the ice and will I go all the way through[shocked], because it was very slushy all around. Not sure why people cover up holes like that but it can be very dangerous for small kids, especially if they are 10" holes.
