dont throw it away, it will be a collectors item some day. and he can always pass it on to his rugrat.
if you have an old rod laying around the hould cut it to about 24-28 inches in lenth. go out side and find a tree branch about half inch in diamiter. cut a section about 12-14 inches in lenth. drill a hole through one end and epoxy the rod in to the hole.
you can use electric tape to tape on your reel. most of the older rods dont have a mount for reels and are taped in place.
