If I could have caught a smallie of 12" or longer (caught one smallie of around 12" while trying to catch crappie and blue gill before learning what was legal to keep) I would have tried it for bait. I learned that the smallie rules there are 10 smallies over 12" long.
Yes, we were able to fish all three days, but we only caught one sturgeon on Saturday. There was minimal wind the entire trip, which is both a blessing and a curse when it is so hot.
