[#0000FF]Yeah, we used to just carry our vests with us...as per requirement. But once we got the inflatables...and found how easy and comfortable they are to wear at all times...we decided that it made more sense to just keep them on.
I read a piece a short while back that mentioned what a large percentage of boat drownings involved folks that had life vests "with them...but not on them". Once you go in the water it is difficult to put on a vest that is still in the boat. And even if someone throws it to you it is tough to get it on right and properly fastened.
I was actually miffed when mine went off and inflated around me...until I realized that had I been injured or incapacitated it would have saved me.
The worst part is that I have to buy a rearming kit that costs almost $30. Not sure my broken down old bod is worth that much. Well...maybe to the beneficiary on my insurance.
