Here's the law that Bonneville County can't do anything about. The Federal Government restricts snow machines from the lake due to winter elk refuge rules.
Bonneville County, in order to maintain that law, has to pass a similar law or be deputized as a federal law enforcement officer to enforce the law. This has always been a sticking point between the Feds and our State or Local enforcement agencies for Ririe winter rules.
Beyond snow machines, you can take your personal vehicles onto the ice at your own risk of falling through. If you fall through with your vehicle, be it a SUV, small personal four wheeler or Razor type vehicle you are subject to some very heavy fines and recovery fees.
