Went to Echo this past saturday. Got into the perch right away and couldnt keep them off. The only problem was the size. Biggest perch I pulled out was maybe 6 in. This is my first year chasing perch at Echo, I usually go to Pineview or Starvation and they got some decent size on them there. Is this the size norm at Echo for perch?

Last year we noticed quite a variety in size of different perch. My thought then was Echo is going to be a future winner for great fishing with some good size perch. There have been a few real dandies pulled out of there this year. I think it is still in recovery mode from being drained way down to work on the dam. I also think the fact that there are a lot of different sizes, indicates good spawning success on a yearly basis, but it still needs a few years. that is just my opinion, and it usually isn't worth much.

This is my fist year fishing echo. I have been out three times and did pretty good all three times. The perch make great fish tacos, but yes, they seemed small. Real small.

Perch grow in cycles, give it a couple years and they'll be good sized there
