Willard polecat
#1
Hit Willard today, for about 5 hours started trolling near the island, went south to the dike then west didn't show many fish. In that area I tried several lures , with no luck tried bottom bouncers, however I had forgot to grab any worms, so I tried putting on some gulp maggots out of desperation, I did get one pretty good hit on that, surprised the heck out of me! Then I found the fish mother lode, way more than I had been seeing on sonar they were about half way between the south west corner and the light pole about 50 to 100 yards off the dike, I could not get any interested in my presentation though, if anyone figures out what they are wanting let me know, PM me if you don't want to let out your secrets. It was a beautiful day though

Zuki Blue - nice Wiper there. Wife and I were up at the north end all day yesterday. Mainly saving up my waypoints on my new Hook 7 Sonar. She did manage to boat one pretty nice Cat. I took some photos, but will have to wait till I get home to post them.

Tjet, from your screen name I am guessing that was you in the nice Thunder Jet up near the north wall yesterday afternoon. Welcome to BFT and the Willard Bay hopefuls ..[sly] Wife and I were in the little Lund anchored over to the east, not far off the pump station. I was more involved with figuring out my new sonar, and she was drowning worms. Well, actually we both were, but she boated a nice Cat, and I almost had to let her drive home with me in the back of the truck to keep the skunk out of the truck....[frown]

Yes, and about three years ago we watched two bald eagles hovering over us as you were fishing off The bank at the North Marina and I was sitting in my boat, running The motor, still on the trailer getting ready for that season.

That was probably me, if it was a Yamaha powered black Thunderjet, I had my wife drop me off as I hate launching by myself mostly because I don't like my trailer in the water any longer than absolutely necessary, and plugging up the ramp and docks, (please don't get me wrong I definitely would launch by myself if it meant fishing or not,) then she retrieved me 6 hours later, ( nice to live close to WB ) even if it was just a slow boat ride, I'm sure things will turn on soon, it was a beautiful day on the water, we need a Bft channel on the marine radios, maybe there already is and I just don't know about it, we could let each other know where and what the fish were taking..

Must have been then. Was too far away from you to see what type of motor, and the boat was dark, probably black. The only thing I'm sure of is that very distinctive bow and front windshields.
I don't have a radio in my boat, not really anywhere to put it, but I know several other BFT members do have them. Not sure what channel they monitor, but I bet wiperhunter2 can tell you. Anyway, welcome to the forum. If ya see me on the water (and can avoid running over me with that big beautiful Thunder Jet) throw a wave. (Photo courtesy of TubeDude 10 Nov 2016)

Some of us that fish Willard have marine radios and monitor channel 16 but talking on it too long will get you a warning from the state park folks, because it's suppose to be used for emergency only. Once we contact each other we usually go to another channel to talk but that depends on the operator. Years ago we use to use channel 10 but that was long ago.
Hey TinCan, if you don't want a regular marine radio, try buying one of those hand held models, they would great for a smaller boat.
