Took Catcarsen out this a.m. to lend a hand to the carp removal program at UL. Fishing has been good but the sun makes it brutal after about 10:00. We left the fishing gear at home and took our bows out for some shooting. Carp were everywhere and we had no problem collecting more than enough to replenish our bait supply.
Fun time but can't wait for cooler weather. It is hard to enjoy the fishing when you run the risk of heat stroke.
Night shift coming with the full moon. Fun day.

That looks like tons of fun. Those things are nuts right around dawn. Last week I was wondering about the legality of shooting them with a pellet gun. Physical removal from the lake would be an issue, but I've been able to punch through a car door with some types of ammo. Headshots on carp at 25 yards wouldn't be much of an issue.

[#0000FF]No firearms allowed for shooting carp...including BB guns and pellet guns.
The concern is not for the safety of carpkind but humankind.

And that's why I played it safe by not doing it. If I got out there a little more often, I'd have probably bought a bow by now.

[#0000ff]I wasn't making any accusations. Just making sure you didn't obey your baser instincts and make those carp "hole-y" illegally. Been tempted to use up some goose loads on them myself. (but haven't)
Funny that this same subject appeared in Robert Kirby's column in the Salt Lake Tribune this morning. LINK TO COLUMN He openly admits to:[/#0000ff] During my time as a cop, I probably shot a hundred animals. Most of them were injured by traffic; lots of deer, but also a few dogs, a couple of elk and a bunch of cows.
Oh, and about 500 carp (ammo testing at the lake), which I don’t really count because that’s why God made them.

[#0000FF]Let us not rush to judgment.
Mr. Kirby may have had a "carpal' dispensation.
Wonder what executive order Mr. Trump might issue if he were faced with eradicating the carp. Maybe call in a Korean ICBM nuclear strike?

LOL, perhaps, perhaps.
I wonder, do we still have some of those old tactical nukes stored around the country.
Of course, it might take a 1000 years before Provo is livable again. Ooooops

[#0000FF]"Happy Valley" would become "radiant"...or positively glowing.
Upside...no more carp in Utah Lake. Downside...the Junie huggers would throw a hissy fit. At least the survivors would.
