Fish Lake
#1
Took the family to Fish Lake yesterday. Caught 5 ½ species of fish.
Early in the morning hooked what we think was a pup lake trout while jigging deep. Lost it before we could see it (1/2 of a fish caught). Then trolled with squids and plankton. Caught several rainbows, two tiger trout, one splake, one nice Koke which was about ready to spawn and about 1000 perch. The kids even used snorkeling gear and ice fishing rods and caught a few perch. We also got two tagged perch apparently left over from last winter. Great place to spend a day.

Snorkle and ice gear under the water?! That sounds awesome! I'm headed down this week. I don't generally troll, but maybe I should consider it if those salmon are getting nice like in your picture. Very cool.

Good sized koke. Been wondering about those things and how they're doing.

We were there the 4th to the 7th. Accidentally sleeping in and rainy weather every day kept us from fishing as much as we normally do, but we still had fun. We have a canoe we fish from, so we are somewhat limited. We caught a bunch of perch throughout the weekend. I am excited to talk to my kids about snorkeling and using ice rods next year when we go up again. What a brilliant idea. Thanks for the report and the pics.

I had a great time watching the kids fish while snorkeling. They said they could see schools of fish competing for their hook.
I wish Fish Lake was a little (or a lot) warmer and then I would give it a try along with them. As it is, I am too old to enjoy floating around face down in ice cold water.
