Boyd lake 8-18
#1
Fished Boyd lake today for walleye. We trolled crank baits on the east bank in 12 to 18 feet of water. Caught 2 on deep diving and 1 on shallow diving cranks. Then about 10 am we went to the south end and bass fished around the weeds. We were just getting close to the weeds and I seen a bunch of surface activity. I stopped and threw a rapala at it and slam a nice smallie. We spent the next 2 hours casting cranks around the weeds and caught 3 more bass, nothing over 14 in.

Thanks for the report Chuck, were the eyes around 14" as well. Will bottom bouncing work there?

One of the walleyes might have been 16in. I haven't tried bottom bouncers on Boyd yet but I think I'm going to this coming Friday. I seen a lot of fish on the bottom in that 14 to 18 fow. I didn't have any worms or minnows or even any bottom bouncers with me. I had a inside tip they were catching some eyes on crank baits. One of my neighbors fishs some of the local walleye tournaments, it was a good tip.

Nice, I just googled Boyd lake, hard to tell how big it is but it looks like there are several lakes in that area.

Yea there is a few lakes around me, some of them are private. You have to live on the lake to be able to fish in them. But there is about a dozen other lakes all with in a half hour drive from my house. That's why I fish Boyd a lot it's 5 minutes from my house.

I don't blame you a bit, it's always easier to fish water close to home. Have you had a chance to go get those stickers from theangler? I had high hopes of getting up your way this Summer but at this point, unless something changes, I don't think that will happen.[Sad]
