Strawberry since last weekend snow?
#1
[fishin] 11/12/2017 Has anyone driven the highway to Renegade at Strawberry this past week? Are there any snow packed or slick areas from the Strawberry turn off to Renegade boat ramp. I plan to launch my boat at Renegade if possible? Thank You! Silver Eagle

Was there Wednesday. The road to Renegade was fine. No problems.

Thank You (doggonefishin)! I worry about a couple of those steep hills being snow packed. The weather has been excellent since Wednesday.

I drove to the Strawberry Bay marina yesterday (Saturday). Although I did not drive over to Renegade, I cannot imagine the road would be impassable. There was only a little snow on north facing hills under the pines that I observed.
At the marina there was only 1 small courtesy dock on the ramp. All the other docks had been pulled. There were several boats on the water. I did not fish but it was a great day for an afternoon drive. I want to fish or grouse hunt tomorrow - haven't quite decided - wish the boat wasn't winterized and put away. That would make the decision easier.

Went to Renegade yesterday. Not a lick of snow or ice on road. Not even much on the mountains.

I fished there today. It was slow for everyone I talked to. I caught two slot cutts from 7:30 until 11:30 missed a few others. Cold this morning: 18 degrees on arrival 48 when I left.

We were there a week ago , 3 of us got 45 using white tube jigs tipped with chub . Two over the slot both 5 plus lbs. The bite was extremely lite. Had to be paying attention or they were gone . .most fish were in shallow , 15/20 ft.

I've had those kind of days, it makes for enjoyable trip.

I winterized my boat a month ago so now I'm fishing out of my Sea Eagle pontoon and can't range to far looking for them. Plus I don't like the idea of being to far from the ramp when the wind picks up. I hope to keep at it unitl it freezes up or the road to Renegade gets to snow packed. I've averaged about one trip a week depending on the weather.

Not fast but but still enough to keep the interest up.
We caught a couple over the slot. Average size for us was a bit larger than last year at this time.
Found that they wanted it a bit faster than I usually fish this time of year. The bite was light.
