Mill race

Has anyone tried taking the channel at mill race to Provo bay? Thinking about taking the long tail out for some bow fishing

The lake is a foot higher then when I was fishing it last year so you will be fine to run down it.

I noticed one launching yesterday. Should be good to go.

Can anyone tell me what the fishing opportunities are like around Mill
race?; it's my closest access point to UL.

Funny story: my first wife came home one day and said it must be bow season for ducks. She had seen people walking around with bows from the freeway on her way home.

I have caught catfish and white bass there. Not a lot of room for bank tangling but it is doable. When the white bass starts spawning I have had really good sessions casting small spinners and jig with curleytails. For the next little while you will be competing with carp punchers. Me included.

I was able to take my log tail down on Saturday. It was still a little muddy from he wind over night, but I still seen a few thousand fish up in the shallows. My bow was busy.

I drove down there on Thursday, just curious if the white bass were running. I didn't see any white bass, but there was enough water for shallow boats to launch. Unfortunately, I drove over something that cut through the tread of my tire and I had to make a stop at Walmart and buy a new one.[frown]

Someone has pounded large piece of rebar in the ground in the middle of the road. There is a rock next to it so hopefully no one shreds their tires. I can't believe all the garbage everyone has left. All along the banks pretty far out, I seen cans and water bottles just dropped. Pretty disgusting.

Too late for me, because my tire is toast.

Yeah, well, the masses are ... basses, or something like that. Enough to turn ya into a complete misanthrope.

I floated mill race Thursday and carp were dancing in cattails all the way to Provo bay. The carp with backs out of water were common in the bay.

Sorry to here about your tire Kent. We left just after you drove off and I saw that rebar. But thanks for the tip on AF were we went after and had a good trip for cats.

I wish that I would have seen the rebar. It was a pleasure chatting with you and glad my tip helped.

That's not nice! It's reminiscent of someone setting up deadly booby traps near a popular trail some years ago. I hope they get caught.

Thanks for telling us! It's wrong that has caused Kent to spend money on a new tire. Someone should rope it up and pull it out with their trailer hitch. I know my car would pull it out, but I have a lot of overtime work lately. If that doesn't work for someone with a sturdy truck and it's still there, I'll loan out my massive slide hammer to whoever wants to pull it out.
