Huntington North - The fish are starting to wake up
#1
A friend and I decided that we hadn't been to HN in over a month so it was time to try it again. The previous two trips were stinkers.

We launched at the State Park boat ramp and fished north and west from the ramp. We were using fast sinking lines and size 6-8 bead head crystal buggers in green, tan/green, and a green leech pattern. We picked up a variety of fish with most being rainbows, from 15"-17", four wipers from 16" - 20", three chubs from 13"- 14", and one brown, not sure of the length but it weighed seven pounds and eleven ounces. It was quite a surprise, I thought it was another wiper since it tried to stay on the bottom. Most of the fish were hooked in water 15' - 30' near the bottom.

The water temperature was 57-61 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 3'-4'. The reservoir is 84% full and dropping slowly.

I launched at 8:00 and fished until 10:15 before I picked up a fish. The fishing was pretty steady from then until we left, around 3:00. There were a couple of boats on the water fishing, don't know how they did.
