Afternoon hours at Strawberry?

Not going to make it up to Strawberry until after lunch time next Saturday. Sounds like everyone is fishing early in the am and was wondering if anyone was having any afternoon success and towards night? For sure there would be less pressure

The fishing is decent in the afternoons - same areas as during the days. The biggest issue is the wind. The wind usually lays down sometime around 7 pm but that doesn't give you too long to fish before time to get off the water. Once in a while you can get out earlier. I am not successful when the boat is pitching too much.

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#800000]Having been to the Berry for 5 days in a row for the last 4 or 5 years, I'd say that there is a 95% (or more) probability that the wind will blow hard enough after High Noon every day to make it darn near impossible to fish. If you absolutely MUST fish in those conditions, WEAR YOUR LIFE PRESERVER. And insist that anybody on the boat with you at the time do the same. Doesn't matter what kind of boat you have shy of a US Navy Aircraft Carrier, it can sink in heavy seas. Thirteen people in Missouri found that out the hard way this past week. Better yet, just forget about making that drive for nothing. There will be other days. [][/#800000][/font]

Fished from 5:30am until 2:30pm yesterday. Lots of trout early and then a decent koke bite from about 8:00 until 10:00am. Wind picked up before noon as a small front passed with some wind. We put up the canopy and stayed on the water. After the front passed the wind laid down and we had our best success of the day. Caught five nice kokes between 1:45 and 2:45pm. Several trout scattered in between. Fish were a little deeper, 39-41 feet in the deepest water we could find.

I fish a lot of evenings and tend to do OK. Have found that evenings are better going in to a full moon. Mornings tend to be better on the new moon.

We caught fish on two of my marks. One is north east of the Marina which is more on the western side of the lake and the other was just north of the entrance to the narrows on the east side of the of lake. Again, look for deep water right now and then chase the fish that you mark.

Caught some nice Kokes around 2pm Friday. If wind let's you fish concentrate on areas here you have marked fish. My boat got 5 on consecutive passes through a fairly small area straight out from where the are building the storage units on the west side. Bite probably was still going strong but we hit our limit and called it a day.

Glow pink squids tipped with maggots. 40ft down tolling at 1.5 mph. Use a dodger with a lot of action. Your rod tip should be bouncing a bit. They really slammed the rods. I had one peel off a good 30 feet of line before I was able to slow it down.
