Water stains are the hardest thing to remove from glass, I found this product over 20yrs ago called Nothings Better, mine comes in a powder form which is still available. There is a paste form which some reviews indicate the powder is better. I use it on my auto & boat windshield, home windows if needed. All glass is always subject to water staining. This requires a little elbow grease & doesn't take that long to clean, satisfaction will be yours after. Also check contents label for other surface cleaning.
Next, I no longer wax a boat, once I stripped off old build up dingy yellowing of wax, I started using Pledge Multi Surface cleaner even over the paint, no worries it doesn't damage the paint. This product is also fantastic for cleaning glass with the aid of a microfiber cloth. I was fed up with windex which streaks and smears however Pledge will leave your windows clear.
Finally, I found another product for cleaning the plastic window curtains that some of use when we are fishing in colder weather aiding extending boating season. Its called 210 Plastic Cleaner & Polish. Windex is not good using on these type of curtains and paper towels leave scratch marks along with dirt buildup. This cleaner will leave the curtains clear and pliable but let's face it plastic unlike glass has a distorted look but can still see thru. Once again use a microfiber cloth when applying. My center walk thru door window at the windshield came as plexiglass. It had that dirty stained scratch look but when I applied 210 Cleaner it cleared up giving way to a see thru function again.
