I want my fish and I want them now dammit!

Only kidding...kinda

I've always fished since I can remember. But hunting was and is a much higher priority. (Someone has to shoot the small deer!) But in the last 5 years or so fishing has lost its fun for me. I mainly fished from the shore and I went through a rough patch just not being able to catch a lot of fish. However I always remembered how good a great day of fishing can be. This year I really got the itch to get back into it but I knew I knew I needed to change things up. So I got a nice setup on a Hobie Pro Angler 14 and it has completely changed my world. I don't think I've fished this much in a long time. Maybe two to three times a week for the past month and a half and I don't see it slowing down much for me. In-between hunts I'll most likely be found on the water.

I'm located in Eagle Mountain so Utah Lake is a favorite when it doesn't look like it will drown me. I've been spending a lot of time on Jordanelle going after wipers, trout, and kokanee. We have a little cabin by Smith and Morehouse res. That place has never let me down. It would be nice to catch a damn fish at Strawberry(I'm pretty sure thats the lake that ruined fishing for me)

Getting out ON the water has made fishing much more enjoyable and I can't believe I haven't done something like this sooner.

Thanks for having me!

Welcome to the site SH, good to have you on the site. So you have caught wipers at Jordanelle? What were you using to catch them and were you fishing near the shore or out in the middle?

I've been catching the wipers on the Rock Cliff section. Just about 150 yards off shore from the boat ramp. I've waited later in the evening when they start surfacing and I throw a rainbow colored shad jig at them and reel it in quick and they smack it.

Thanks for the info. We were fishing up that arm earlier this week but from the sounds of it we did not go far enough up there. So the rainbow colored shad jig you were using, did it have some sort of plastic on it or bait?
