Rockport 12/29
Third try at ice fishing in the past 15 years (and only two or three times before that when in my teens). Got myself an ice shelter for Christmas and after trying it out for the first time yesterday, am hoping to spend lots of time in it this winter. So comfortable I may have dozed off once or twice.
Fished near the dam in about 40' of water. Ice was a solid 5".
Used various colored and sized jigs and spoons tipped with a worm. Got a few hits 1'-2' off bottom but was not able to bring anything in.
On Christmas day the boat ramp to the inlet was open water, so I was surprised to see a few groups fishing near the ramp. Didn't see anyone go through, so I guess the ice was thick enough. I am going to give it a bit longer until I am comfortable venturing anywhere between the ramp and the inlet.
