Hyrum Dec 31, 2019

[#800000]What a great way to end the year and start the new season. Hyrum was on fire yesterday. It was NON-STOP from the git-go. Damon had 6 fish on the ice before I got a line in the water and I played follow the leader for the rest of the day. I don't think I iced a single perch under 6" all day and only one or two of those. I was catching them on the drop, on the lift, and suspended 20 feet off the bottom. They were hitting spoons, Hali's, tungsten teardrops, Gitzits, & tubes. Bait/color didn't matter; they hit them all with gusto. It just doesn't get any better than yesterday.

[#800000]We clearly iced over 100 fish between us for the day. The sonars were showing fish marks constantly and were lighting up the display with as many as 30 or more at a time all the way from the bottom up to 10 feet depth. I have never seen it like that even when night fishing for crappie.[/#800000]

The red tent in the background was the closest anybody was to our location all day. I love it when a plan comes together.[/#800000]

Looks like a fun time. I've hit Hyrum twice so far this year and both times were great for perch. 7.5" is the smallest I've got this year and just over 10" the biggest. For me jig style/color didn't matter, but the seemed to prefer shrimp over anything else.

I'm happy for you. It was just the opposite kind of day at Strawberry. Four of us caught 10 fish: 1, 2, 3, 4. The single was mine and it took a long time showing up. And I was thrilled, even if it was just average sized. When you're staring down the skunk and he has his tail raised high, anything is like a trophy.

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.

Congrats Bob,
It's fun when you can get some fish to cooperate.. I've had several fun trips to that pond this year, but haven't run those kinds of numbers... Sounds like you did something right... Later Jeff
