I had a pretty good day up in Idaho at Henrys with some good company. I started my day at 5am on 5” of solid ice at the Hatchery where I put 7 on the deck by the time Fastrandy showed up at 6:30, at 9:00 am my count was up to 19 and we made a move to Staley’s where I ran my count up to 41 for the day. I caught all but 2 on a white with red flake Maniac Gitzilla tipped with meal worm and Mikes trout glow scent.
Wow that's a great report and pretty fish... Thanks for sharing that with us... I'm getting excited for our annual trip up there... Hope I can wait that long... I'm still 3 weeks out... But got a lot of stuff to get ready so I better get busy... Thanks again.. Jeff

Me and Shawn hit Staley Springs today. We got 46 I think. I've seen Shawn catch nearly 80 fish in 2 days. I did well with 9 and the biggest at 4 pounds today. We got some Brookes today, the biggest at two pounds.

It was a pretty good 4.5 hours of fishing, I’m really looking forward to going back Friday. I got them on the same set up as Saturday. Awesome conditions a little over cast no wind.

Great looking fish, and thanks for the report. I've not been to Henry's does the road get maintained all winter or does access get limited to snow machines?
Are you guys using all five or six poles, forget what Idaho allows? Also are you using jaw jackers and if so how are they doing? Seems like some years my JJ's caught all my fish up there and other years I couldn't buy a bite on them... Thanks Jeff

The road is maintained all winter, but Henry's closes to fishing on Jan. 2 until Memorial weekend.

Randy is fishing with 5, a combination of regular and jigging Jaw Jackers and traditional rod holders. Saturday I fished 2, one in the hand and a Jaw Jacker that I caught 2 of my 41 on. On Monday I just used the one in my hand, I would jig moving up and down through the 10ft. of the water column, calling in the fish to my screen, then I would drop or raise my jig to the level of the fish and dead stick it. The bite was very light in most cases I would not feel it, I would see it move my rod tip slightly then I would use "the force" to estimate the next time it was going to dip then lift up and more often then not it was fish on.
I got three on my other poles. The biggest, a four pounder, hit hard on a dead stick, a red paddle bug tipped with sucker. But they were mainly bitting so lite that without our sonar units we would not have done near as good.

I guess I should have one picture of me.
Good stuff. How deep were you guys fishing at Staley? I think I saw someone say around 10 ft? Did you move around much? Thanks.

We where about 100 yards off the point south of the spring, in water 10' to 11' deep. I caught 2/3 of my fish a foot off the bottom and the other 1/3 up in the water column between 3' and 8'. I moved about 20 yards from 10.5' off water to 11' of water the last hour I fished. Randy didn't move at all.
Oh I'm in trouble the force doesn't flow well through me.... That timing the next tick is tough stuff, no wonder some are catching less fish, it's hard to anticipate that split second hit... Thank you guys for sharing the secrets to the trip, sure sounds like fun... Later Jeff
