rodger that

used to hitchhike a bit  definately pros and cons involved
and that show live was one of the top 10 ive been blessed to see
i like to launch at dawn
so rollin out and driving in the darks a given, might as well have a soundtrack
Thought about and had planned to huck +3"  junk for +3' esoxial critters
well seein how im at least 3/4 of the way to the 10k worth of muskellunges casts it may take
hard to pass an empty launch and a bay full of slimer snout sign
1st boat on the water
balmy 40 sumthin at 6
didnt take long
[Image: SavedImage_0626210706e.jpg?width=1920&he...fit=bounds]
[Image: IMG_7847_(2).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]

[Image: IMG_7845_(2).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]lakes blooming hope it dont go toxic again
[Image: DSCN7391_(2).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]

on that note i usually take the furkid
We, he got we paid, for a vaccine from the vet that will lesson the effects and toxicity but he needs a 2nd shot after the 4th
so i was pretty good about not letting him swim or drink and frolick as there was some blue funk in there
tiggers fight way harder than cutts
managed a 1/2 dozen
[Image: DSCN7388_(2).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]
only a couple bows
couldnt keep the cuttys off the dirty little secret
[Image: SavedImage_0626210900e.jpg?width=1920&he...fit=bounds]
well cept when i let the backcast drop and put it in the gods ear
[Image: 0626210927e.jpg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]
kinda surprised to have the whole madsen wakeless to myself other than the bank dunkers who were gitten em and a couple wakeless drivebys
kept waiting for the wind to pick up or the action to slow but it never did much just that perfect slight chop and wind drift to new waters level
kept waitin for a sumption bigger than 18" but that never did happened either
tried a few different flies the gumminnow ,which im sure makes a few purist cringe,
[Image: SavedImage_0626211130h.jpg?width=1920&he...fit=bounds]
gits em but also spun my leader to the point of tippet
got a few on the row aka troll but for the most part  strippin the type 6 with the bigger fish comin deeper
lot of followers and swipes at the end
thought about diggin out a floating line but the callibeaties dimplers  all  appeared pretty small
clouded up and rained for a minute
stuck another tigger waiting to take out
[Image: DSCN7400_(2).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]
and off the water by 230 home bout 12 hours after i left
kept 4 scrawny cutts for the bros smoker and fish heads and guts for the garden nutrients

Thanks for the pics and report.  That seems to be your sweet spot up there.
I'll bet Furkid wasn't to happy with you.

Did you score any chubs on your outing?  Chucking that big stuff probably keeps you from hooking any of them.  The last time we went we picked up a few later in the day after the water warmed up a bit.

no chubs seen or spotted. ill be back though i like the chill vibe there
Everyone should have a home waters, for a long time the green was my home waters
and my summer vocation for a 1/2 dozen.
Priorities and circumstances change, been dealing with my pops health and aging issues, and i dont day trip to drive 7 to fish 8 or 10.
so ive been still watering and poopfishin local.
was hoping to git my dad out but hes not strong enough or ready for all day on the river
my wifes a saint and has been taking care of him while he stays with us and let me git outta town weds
a friend had reserved a river camp thurs but couldnt make it
rolled into dutch john weds eve, was hopin for a good spot on the gorge, but the blm has never enforced the 14 day limit there,
So they all leave their 5th wheels in the prime spots all season.
bagged it and headed down to browns park and camped riverside at taylors flat, which was empty
rained a bit that night but awoke to a nice pink hued sunrise and anticipation of a good to be home waters float
[Image: IMG_7866_(2).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]
Bailed on bucking camp and loading the boat to camp on the river and drove up to little hole
on the water at 8
[Image: IMG_7871_(2).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]
got a bow to eat the stripped junk right off the bat
[Image: IMG_7868_(2).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]
swapped out and put the bmc up front and got em to eat the dry
[Image: IMG_7874_(3).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]
continued to trade out and score a few more per mile
[Image: SavedImage_0701211018b.jpg?width=1920&he...fit=bounds]
[Image: IMG_7876_(3).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]
Ran into a old friend camped at pugmire
Saddened me to hear of his furkid taking the rainbow bridge trip
[Image: image_zpsxrtpowir.jpeg?width=1920&height...fit=bounds]
all good dogs take that trip eventually
as it always does the sound of red creek rapid is heard fore ya turn the corner and see it
and as mr. holmstrom diaries are named "every rapid tells a story"
if ya dont listen up bad stuffs can happen
red creeek at minimasl flows is tough
ya can still run left and the overall consequences are usually safer but your gonna hit stuff
rights not as hard to run clean but the dragons tooth at the bottom is a boat eating day wrecker if ya dont avoid em
choose left lined er up and made the drop but blew a crux stroke high sided rodeoed backwards into the rock that i need to be behind with a force that im surprised the anchor mount survived.
It did put the hog where it needed to be to row the rest clean though
[Image: red_creek.jpg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]it fished well below with non of the weeks afternoon showers being enough water to bring red creek into play
with a few bwo but primarily caddis and sally on the water
[Image: IMG_7897_(2).JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds]
heard the cicadia buzz for a 100 yards in the rapid and got a few swipes and nose bumps using it
that morning.
my and the bmc's old man eyes need a bit of help so the pink triple double did the trick

fished well till the winds cranked up, thankfully downstream, and it rained pretty good the last mile.
Pushed out  and ran a shuttle lap and some supplies back to dutch john.
thought about riggin the 2 hander or soft hackling the evening caddis hatch
A cocktail or 2 dinner and a dog walk and horizontal on a paco pad ,sawing logs and dreaming about the fast water hog eat i blew that afternoon
