I got out this morning by myself and put my lines in at 8am between the feed lot and south marina in 7-8’ of water and had my first cat at 8:21 and put my 8th in the box at 1pm, I would have been done by 11 if I had not broken 2 off earlier, I didn’t change my leaders after my last trip with Curt. Silver and blue fligs where best followed by fire tiger, I ran a 36” leader today from my swivel and tipped my fligs with Chub from Sportsman. Water temp was 61 when I got there and 65 when I left. Only 3 other boats in the lake today.

Glad you got out and had some good success. Those rolling cats will nick your line, you got to check your leaders after each cat you catch. How deep water was the water in the channel as you were going through it?

Yes about the same, the largest 2 where around 23"

Nice. What kind of fish do you think that is that you got on the side of the fillets, in your first pic?

It looked like a Shad to me from the first hatch of last spring I’m guessing.

My guess is a carplet.  I just got a few that size down at Utah Lake with a cast net.  Young carp grow fast but are a big part of the predators' diets until they get too big in the late fall.  Biggest shad from this year's hatch might be 4-5".  Most are much smaller.

By the way, it sounds like you have been studying your lessons in "fligonometry".  You did well, Grasshoppah.

Thanks Pat between you and Curt’s tutorials I think I have a handle on Willard cat fligging. I do need to replenish my supply of fligs when we get out together. What do you think of getting out on Columbus Day or should we wait until later in the month?
