Excited to get on the ice this year, I had enough yesterday on my farm pond to hold me up, but I didn't go exploring or cut a hole to see how thick it was... probably between 2 to 3" now so not in my safe feeling area yet... Probably getting there by the weekend if it keeps staying cold at night... Hope to add some fish to this post soon.... Later J

First one is always the hardest for me to get on the board... Sorry I went not expecting to be able to get on the ice so I wasn't very prepared, only took my spud instead of the auger and left my tape in the car and hadn't even printed my label yet... sorry for the home built, hoped it would work, I'll do better in the future... Hope this one will be bumped later, its not very big, but last year I couldn't find much for perch so thought I better get this one on the board in case the rest of the season goes dry... Thanks Ron for the score... J

Yes. this looks like a hybrid with green sunfish to me. We'll call it a bluegill.

Thanks, yes that one was a monster, sure hope I find something better than that one later on... But i figured since i didn't have any trout yet it was a way to keep running with you guys even though one point is a lot less than four or five... I'm going to have to figure out where I can find a trout better than a planter, but most of the trout ponds around here are still open water. Not sure I still know how to catch a trout, guess I better figure that out soon... Later J

Getting better, but been so long since i caught a good one I thought this one was big until I put it on the measure and found out I'm still 3" short... Hopefully I can find his big brother before too much longer so I can go try to find some trout... But so far its about my only ice close to home, so for now I guess it will do... Later J
