Lost creek 2/17/23
#1
Ira, Alan, Dave and I got up to LC today. Temp was -9 degrees when we went through Croydon, it warmed up to -5 by the time we got to the dam, where we unloaded our ATV's and snowmobile. We drove to the back then down the ramp to get on the ice, then we moved to the areas we fished for the day. Ice was 15" where I fished. For the first hour I marked fish but no bites, then I caught my first koke through the ice at LC.

I had high hopes of catching more of them but that was the only koke for the day. Nothing but cutts for the rest of the day and nothing bigger than 14" for me. The rest of the guys were catching cutts and bows but nothing too big. Beautiful day up there saw lots of deer and even some turkeys on the drive out.

What a great day weather wise although a bit cool to start, my truck gauge said -11 when we parked, either way the sun coming over the ridge made it nice. Dave and I both got schooled by Ira and Curt but someone has to handle the net lol. Fun day with the group looking forward to the next trip

Sounds like a fun trip. I'm planning on hitting it very early Monday morning. Any color or bait combos that worked better than others?

It is really deep in that area where your first picture was taken.  Was that where you fished?

Thanks for the report.

Looks like fun times on LC. love the DIY sled I'm planning someday to do a build one myself to hall gear out on the frozen water. I bet its pulls better through snow than a tub sled. I wish they would let us set up an ice hut and stay the night because I pick up a monster Eskimo hut and loved camping at Lost Creek back in the Day before it got closed down to only day use. Thanks for the Show and tell and come on 5 pounder!

White cutter bug is what Ira was using I believe, not sure what Curt was using, Dave and my baits didn’t matter lol. Yes the pic was taken from where we fished, we were pretty tight to shore 26-51’ of H2O 40 seemed to be the best depth on a point for us, not sure what depth Curt was fishing as he set up back by the peninsula

Thanks it does pull really well and is light, with the auger holder in the back I’ve used it as a “kick” sled when the ice isn’t thick enough for machines and it works well

Just an FYI. They removed the day use provision and it is now open 24 hrs a day.

Hope LC treated you good today. I was using one of Pat's wobbler jigs, in white glitter/blue, tipped with spikes, when I caught the koke and a few of the smaller cutts about 25 ft down. Caught the bigger cutt off the bottom in 55 FOW with a split tail crappie magnet in glow, tipped with chub meat.
