Slushy East Canyon 3/3
#1
Walked on the ice with a headlamp just past the cabins in the main parking lot.  Soft edges getting on and got both feet wet right off the bat.  Hard walking with water on top of the ice under 4 inches of decayed snow.  I walked out into ~20 fow, drilled about 6 holes and set up while toes started to get cold.
Caught one 18" bow on an orange rat finky with crawler dead sticked a couple reels of the bottom.
Decided to exit on the ramp instead of crashing the soft edges.  The ramp had enough traffic it exposed the crap underneath and froze it enough to cross out easily.
Scud bugs I think from guts pictured.  A few still crawling around.

hit East Canyon this morning also. Wish I had brought snow shoes so I wouldn't have sunk up to my knees and would have stayed out of the slush when on the ice, and a plank to get on the ice, so I wouldn't have went up to my knees in water getting on! Catching was fair, limited out. Chartreuse seemed to be the preferred color, 2:1 over the white this morning. Fish mainly 15-20' down, I was in 50 FOW.
