Line report
#1
I posted awhile back about looking for some Nano-Oil.  I never could buy what I really wanted in Nano so I ended up buying some Berkley X-9 braid.  After a few trips I figured I would report back as to how I like it.

It does not cast as good as Nano but I feel it casts better than Mono or floro.
There seems to be zero stretch so feeling the fish is comparable to Nano.
I have had no problems with fraying whatsoever yet.
In freezing conditions it does seem to carry and hold more water than mono or floro.  It ices up on the spool.
I am happy enough with it that I am going to buy more to spool other reels.

Nano-Fil is discontinued, I read. I switched to Ultra-8 for my 6# and 8# rods.

I loved the way Nano-Fil cast, but it would fray on anything, including some rod guides.

When I heard NanoFil was being discontinued, I went online and stocked up on the pound tests I needed. I'm glad I did, since it is next to impossible to find it any longer. I'm glad to hear the X-9 sounds like it might be a good option. The no-stretch, easy castability, and ultra-thinness of of NanoFil is what made it so great. I only had problem with fraying after significant use, but even regular braid would fray. I simply cut off the last 6-8' and retied and it would be good for another year!
