Echo Still Producing..10-9-24
#1
Been a while since I've reported, been a while since I got out...house projects, peaches, pears, to harvest, garden to clean up, ... and now there's duck hunting to throw in the mix...hunting not as productive as normal (no wind, no storms, no rain, too warm, etc), so good timing to get the boat out on the water again...after some initial problems, (check engine lite on truck, hydraulic problem on big motor, small motor slow to start) we got started over an hour late, 0930...already a dozen boaters out on Echo...good reason, as the fishing is still good...hard to see and breathe in all that smoke from the "Yellow Lake" fire, so hope they get it under control soon..RAIN...nice rainbows again..not a hot bite, but ok til about noon, and no problem catching about 9 or 10 each of us..lots of misses added to the fun..Tennessee Shad Rapala, no added weight, off planer board worked good, as well as asst'd pink, chartreus, squids and assasins, on down rigger...like most other guys, depth 3ft to 11ft for us...if you can't duck hunt, you may as well go fishing...Guluk..

Joe, you can still go duck hunting! If the ducks aren't flying share some valued time with the mosquitos, get a little bit sun burned.

I really miss being out in the wet lands. I have had to accept the fact that it's over for me.

On a good day with some help, I can manage a day or two of fishing. I anticipate that will get better.

Have a good time at whatever you do.

OH! If you see a duck with an "R" Printed on it's breast take it for me.

Hey Richard..miss seeing you out with the Airboat group...yeah, I'm still trying to act like a kid when it comes to getting out in the marsh..as long as I have my back brace on, my knee brace on, 2 bottles of power aid, my pickle juice handy, travel the dikes with my (class 1) E bike, I can still make the attempt...I thoroughly enjoy my time on the water trolling for kokes, rainbows, walleyes, wipers, and catfish, but I love even more any time I can be sitting in a shallow water marsh in the phrag or cattails, or in a low layout blind, looking for ducks and swatting mosquitoes.... and I welcome the ice fishing season, if it ever comes... Smile

Echo has been a bit of a mystery this year for me. Feast or famine. Glad it treated ya right.
Remember: keep the lid on the worms, share your jerky, and stop by to say hi to Cookie and the Cowboy-Pirate crew

Hey Cowboy..got another buddy that's been fishing it well (trolling) with his boat also..You ever fish out of a boat? I think all your reports I've seen have been on shore..I'd love to take you sometime, if interested, but anyone that goes with me has to come to my place in Bountiful, cuz I need help with boat hook-up, and then re-positioning it when done for the day...always enjoy your videos...
