Red Fleet 11-23-24
#1
They finally opened RF back up after over a year of remodeling,  better camping spots, new bathrooms and shower, 3 mini homes to stay in, big area for the paddle boarders,  ramp and dock still the same,  started about 9:30, putted around to a few spots nothing on the finder, run down by the dam,  the screen lit up from 45 to 20 ft,  parked on top of em,  dopped some jigs, started pulling up blue gills, biggest Ive ever found,

tried below, above and around them could  only find gills, moved around searching for more different fish,  found some more gills and and perch, but not he target fish, eyes and wipers,  hopefully can get a few more good days before ice up to find some.

Thanks for the information on Red Fleet.  It is a reservoir I have always wanted to try but never made it there.  Maybe next spring.

Saw all about the changes and upgrades they've been making on Adam Eakle, looks like they've really made many improvements for sure. What they had never mentioned - is it a wakeless reservoir? We hoped so, but we wondered. See any signs about this?

Nope!

Operating a boat above a wakeless speed is prohibited on the following waters:
  • Causey Reservoir (Weber County)

  • Lost Creek (Morgan County)

  • Porcupine Reservoir (Cache County, Porcupine Reservoir Company)

  • Smith and Morehouse (Summit County)

Good on the Gills. Just a couple days ago I was telling my wife how much I miss fishing for those little guys. Thanks for posting.

Nope its not wakeless, but out from ramp back up in arm that has the big cliffs it is,  there is a lot of paddle boarders, but they keep wakes under control, they will plug up the ramp from time to time for a bit, it is a pretty lake with all kinds of fish in it.

LINK TO ADAM EAKLE PROGRAM ON YOUTUBE

I watched Adam's program on the new Red Fleet.  They mentioned they had poisoned it to get rid of walleyes?????

Showed lots of hefty bluegills a largie or two and a couple of wipers of decent size.  Should be a good ice fishing venue.

Back in 2015 it was poisoned for the walleye. They've since restocked triploid (sterile) walleye. Plenty in there, but not too big. It ought to be a good ice fishing spot, but it's one of the toughest I've ever fished for some unexplainable reason. I keep trying. It has bluegill, crappie, perch, largemouth bass, wiper, walleye, rainbows, browns, tiger trout, and whitefish.

Ya found lotsa gills and a few perch, wish I woulda tried a few other things, maybe next time, its only 20 minutes away.

Anyway my understanding at one time a bucket biologist put eyes in there,  with it being a tributary to the Green River, they can only plant sterile eyes in it from Willard, the same goes for Sand Wash, SW has alot more eyes then RF, the weird part is there is already eyes and northern pike in the green, but they dont want any more. but starvy is where the big mamas are,  its tough to find time to hit all 4 places , but Ima doing my best to.  oh and dont forget about the Gorge, its rough out here making decisions where to go fishin when they are all with in a hour away. Big Grin

SW and RF eyes, I have only found eater sizes nothing big, not sure if the sterile ones dont get as big or if they are just not old enough yet.

Yep, that was show I watched. Was hoping more for wakeless, mostly for easier float tubing, if we decided to just camp there and do a little fishing as well. It's doable either way, of course, just nicer if it were a wakeless reservoir.

That said, how are the 'from shore' opportunities?

We'd even possibly ice fish it  - ya never know....

There is north and south access points besides at the main launch area, south of the dam there is access but its not state park and I think you would want 4X4 to get there, haven't drove it yet,  just seen people there from the boat. you would want to pull it up on google maps.
