Went on my first fishing adventure since the Wookie past away. Snowing hard then turned to rain. Fished a small creek near me as I knew I had only a couple hours before honey-do's for Cookie took over my day. The stream was pretty open so I did not have to drill any holes Wish our local waters would ice up but it is not looking good for a while with weather reports. Anyway, fishing was good for small cutthroats with a little jig tipped with a worm. I had one tied on my line from a while ago so I just grabbed a small packet of extras from my truck and threw them in my pocket for backup. Turn's out that packet had jigs that floated more than sunk and I did not have anything in my pockets to fix that. Oh well I cut off all the fluff and slow floated them through deep pockets. Still worked out. Picked up a bunch of small ones. No size but was not expecting any.

Rabbit hunt planned next week in Wyoming and a hike into the new Wild Life Management area near me as well (up by East Canyon). I am excited to hike into that area. It has been private for as long as I can remember. I was able to trap it for bobcats in my teens but have not been back for a long time, so I am going to wander through my old trapline routes and enjoy some views from my younger years.
Hope you all are having a great year end and maybe finding a bit of ice to drill
cheers

Sounds like a fun trip Lance, nice to have a nice little creek so close to home. Where is this new WMA located around EC, is it below the dam or going down the road to Henefer or another direction?

Nice video, they don't always have to be big to enjoy a fishing trip. R.I.P. Wookie.

Directly across from Marina. Connects to the existing WMA down below the dam and goes all the way around the north side. Big pickup. Old goldflec ground that was advertised as cabin lots but never got any going. Glad the state grabbed it. One of the few sage grouse leeks in our area and great winter range. I know people have all sorts of bad feelings about the state and it's land/wildlife management but it is sure better than 10 acre cabin lots taking up that valuable wildlife habitat

Awesome, I always wanted to hunt that area, should be a great addition to the WMA's. Do you know if it will be a walk in area or will there be a road going into the area?

I love the Wookie plan keeping his memories alive. Its always fun fishing small streams. Also noticed a Beagle in this video segment. I have memories of a beagle hound when I use to hunt rabbit in Tenn, Arkansas, & Alabama (Roll Tide) in the cotton, soybean & corn fields during my youthful years. Always liked it when he was on the trail of a rabbit it was a none stop howl beagles are known to produce. I lost him to a venomous snake bite, not sure which snake since there were cotton mouths, copperheads, & rattlers around, that was the veterinarian finding. His name was Mr. Jiggs, my memory of him is very clear.

Ya the beagle pastaway a few years ago. His name was buddy. Him and the Wookie would double team on rabbits. Buddy would bust them out of cover and the wookie would run them down but not kill them just kinda high stakes tag. Pretty funny. Buddy was even a tougher loss for me. He crawled up on my lap one night let out a howl in pain and died. He was like another kid in our family and oh man could he fart. Made everyone laugh.
