Hey Utah folks….

Quick Florida check in, haven’t been here in a long while…some of the old guys will remember me. Still out in Florida loving the ocean fishing. I was thinking about coming out for some ice fishing but that is not looking too good. I was back in September and hit the Gorge with a buddy for some small lakers and then did some fly fishing in Wyoming…hope all is well!

Water is a bit chilly here right now, trout is the game. Went out for a few hours the other morning, kept a limit for some friends and then caught and released another couple dozen.

Good to see you and wish you the very best out in FL. Where are you at in FL anyway? Tight lines!

Mike, good hearing from you. If that is a trout, in your bottom picture, it almost looks like a cross between a trout and a perch.

Remo, I went to the Big Bend area this Spring to visit a fellow 'Nam vet and get in a fishing trip. Caught enough spotted grouper that I could hardly lift my arms that evening. Sadly, they were out of keeping season, but they sure fight hard. Caught them up to 32", which the guide said was phenomenal.

Kent, it's a saltwater speckled trout. They catch them inshore around mangroves, in like the Florida Keys and harbours etc.

What Nate said Kent…Speckled Trout…they almost look like freshwater trout.

Hey Mike, great to hear from you again... I sure enjoy when you post to hear how things are in Florida.... Guess I have a special interest since I spent my mission down there and would love to fish every time I could on our Prep days... Ice has been sketchy this winter, but the ten day weather forecast is giving us a little hope for the low elevations... Starting tomorrow it looks like it will start building some good ice, so I'm hoping by next weekend to be able to get on some ice... It won't be a great ice year, but at least I hope to be able to get out a little this winter.... Keep watching I'll try and report so you can get an idea if it's worth your trip out west this year or not... Hey if i remember right, one thing you missed on your description of Spek's is their teeth... Seems like they had teeth that would make a walleye jealous.... I remember getting chewed up on my first one... Thanks for checking in... Later Jeff
When things get stressful think I'll go fish'en and worry about it tomorrow!
