Rockport perch fishing is on fire, I took some boys there today and we stayed busy. We fished in 40’ of water, dropped small jigs tipped with perch eyeball down to the bottom, lifted up and had one right after another. Size isn’t great with most 6-8” and a few9-10” but the action was constant.

Obi tells the truth. You can’t miss at RP right now if you want to get kids on fish. Closer to home, Pineview is producing too. Not as fast, but off Windsurfer and in the Narrows off the Caretaker’s area has been good for them as well. Same techniques.

It's funny noone is saying anything about Mantua, I think it should be okay for fishing now, but I haven't been out there... I did check Wellsville a week ago and it was still open water then, but might be freezing by now... Hyrum capped now, Newton is good in most locations so there are a couple locations that are closer if you want to try them... Newton was fast but very small fish.. Use spikes on small tungsten jigs and have a very light tip or strike indicator and dead stick them just off bottom... Good luck.. J

Hey I reread my post and I didn't mean to say Hyrum was ready to fish yet, I think it will need a few more days... and Wellsville is really unknown ice conditions... The locations I meant to imply were okay to fish was Mantua and Newton and both of those will need caution on which areas on the lake are okay to fish at this point, the whole lakes may still have questionable areas where the ice isn't safe yet... sorry just wanted to clarify that... jeff
When things get stressful think I'll go fish'en and worry about it tomorrow!

Walked around Mantua yesterday afternoon.  Couple shacks out that looked to go in from boat launch.  Sporadically open along edges all the way around lake so be careful.
