Anyone know who is the point person for DAV, do they still do fishing trips with people volunteering their boats and time? Please pm me.

That venue (that the Vets enjoyed to the max) went away several years ago due to the VA Therapy Office in Salt Lake City refusing to support it in any way, shape, or form.  The SLC Therapy Department Manager, told us they were being directed from above to no longer support activities outside the hospital.  I'm a disabled Vet myself and helped get the activity started when a BFT Member suggested we do that.  It was an excellent activity that gave a great deal of joy to both the Veterans and the Volunteers.  I was very sorry to see it go away.

As a vet myself I had been putting together the thought as a volunteer. The new to me boat at the time was going thru mods & some fixer upper plans to be my supreme vessel to get a DAV on the water. Its too bad the annual program went out.

It was a great program and the fly tying was a hit as well. I’m unsure if the fly tying is still going on. My dream is to get healthy enough to take service members/disabled vets and first responders on free fishing trips to the gorge and local places. It’s just a dream now but charities like that have done well in other states.
