I live out on the south end of the valley and have been out between 90th and 123rd several times and have only caught small bullheads. There are probably some good fish out there somewhere, but I haven't found them consistently yet.

For mud cats, you can't beat the area below the pumphouse. I've nailed litterally hundreds of them on worms down in there. But, if your going for channels the best is down from 33rd to 21st south. It gets to be excellent fishing for nice big channels consistantly when the water warms a little more. Also, out by the airport used to be killer fishing. My mom caught one by the airport that was about 25 pounds. But that was 18 years ago.

JK15-

Do you ever eat the channels you catch that far downstream on the Jordan? I've caught some nice ones around 4500 S that were a perfect size to eat, I've just never been able to get up the courage to do so. I don't have any problem eating fish out of Utah Lake, but there is so much junk that gets put into that river by the time it gets through the valley that I'm not sure if I trust it.

Yep. I've eaten channels and walleye. Their just fine to eat. I was kind of skepticle too, untill I accidentally killed a channel taking out the hook. He tasted just fine. Since then I've eaten 2 more channels, and a walleye.

...and you haven't noticed any strage hair loss or nuclear type glow in your urine? :-)

Other than the extra fingers, notta.[Tongue] I think its pretty safe to eat them. But hey, you could get your odd fish that has something.

I've had pretty good luck on channels and walleye from 4500S. to 3300S. So far this year. And it's only going to get better as the water warms.[Wink]
