Very little rain fall makes it into the rivers this time of the year. With the past 5 years of drought, even less than normal. Most of the rain and to a large degree much of this years snow pack will be absorbed into the soil before it has a chance to get into the streams. There will always be cloudy looking water after a rain storm, but it will have very little impact on the level of the river or stream. These conditions are a good reminder for all of us to conserve water as much as we can. DKS

OK I AM AFTER THE WEBSITE THAT SHOWS WATER LEVELS PLEASE.
NOW I DISAGREE THAT VERY LITTLE RAIN FALL MAKES IT IN TO STREAMS AND RIVERS. I LIVE IN SLC AND ON THE WAY TO WORK THE CANALS AROUND MY HOUSE WERE SWOLLEN ALMOST OVER THE BANKS NOW I KNOW THIS HAPPENS TO TO RIVERS AS WELL WHEN THERE IS ALOT OF RAIN. LOOK AT MEXICO THIS YEAR YEARS AND YEARS OF DROUGHT THEN THEY GET ALOT OF RAIN AND FLOOD HAPPENS BECAUSE THE RIVER ARE OVER FILLED AND BECOME VERY LARGE.AND THAT WATER GOES WERE TO SOME LARGER BODY OF WATER DOWN STREAM.
I AM JUST WONDERING IF THIS FLOODING THAT IS HAPPENING IN FARMINGTON AND OGDEN AREA. THE LARGEST RAIN FALL IN ONE HOUR IN 50 YEARS HOW MUCH IT MAY HAVE BROUGHT UP THE LOWER LAKES

To get a rough idea of how much water in comparison to last year... Lindon harbor was very shallow and so was American Fork as well as Provo Harbor, you couldn't get a boat out especially when the water is only anywhere from 8 inches at the mouth of the harbor to 2 feet inside last October. Ok right now you can get your boat out no problem just saw a 28 foot boat hightail it out of AF harbor and then a 25 footer no problem out of Lindon harbor. It is now about six feet and rising. Yahooo! but that is until those numbnuts open the gates at the pumphouse...

That is because the water you are seeing is coming into the canals from storm drain collection. It is very different up in the mountains where there are no curbs, roads, parking lots, or other nonimpervious surfaces to collect the rain or snow melt. Now lower ponds that are filled by storm drain collection water is a different story. They will be affected immediately by rainfall. You are right about local high rainfall like Farmington had. In cases like that the water levels will rise for a day or so in the streams in that area. The problem is that isolated rain doesn't produce enough total water to effect the lakes very much. I wish that it did! DKS

This site will give you pretty accurate snow water equivalent, and total precip percentages. We are nowhere near what we should be. "All" this rain we have been getting is next to nothing...can you say "DROUGHT"?
