Had a little bit of time tonight before it got to dark and hit the Jordan river and finally got into some cats . Biggest was only 18" but had a nicer one on that got free . Bait fished with fuzzyfishers sucker minnows and as many times I have had them thawed and refroze they were getting rank but worked good . Couldn't set my pole down the whole time . Lots of small kittys hitting .

[cool]Sounds like a great time, hellsangler69. Without getting into specifics, what general area were you fishin' it in (i.e. between 35th and 27th south, etc.)? Also, just a general question, do you use a sinker or a bobber with your cut bait. If you use weight, how much? I went out the other day off of 39th south, and all I got was a couple of bites and that was it, so I need to learn a little more on kittie fishin'. I was just using nightcrawler below a leader with a 1/2 ounce sinker above a swivel.

I was fishing about 6700 south and yes I was using sinkers . Tight lining it on bottom . I think the minnows was the key .

Does anyone know how the catfishin is further north, like around rose park. Also does anyone know where I can buy minnows for cutbait in the bountiful area without having to drive to the Warehouse.

[cool]Don't know where to get minnows other than sportsmans, but next year during ice fishing season, I'm gonna take home all of the tiny perch that are too small to eat, and freeze them as bait for catfishin', etc.
As for the Jordan by Rose Park, I've never fished that area, but I'm sure it doesn't get fished as much as other areas (mostly because of the crappy part of town it's in). Should be good fishin', but If I was gonna fish it (especially after dark) I would pack my peace if I were you. Not the best or safest part of town. Good luck, whereever you go.

Hey Out4trout, I'm not 100% sure but I dont think you can use a game fish for bait. Chubs, shiners, etc are all good, but I would check the proc. before you use perch as cut bait.

Woops! I think you are right. I think you can only use perchmeat in a few places, like fishlake, jordanelle, echo, and rockport while fishing for perch. I'll have to look that up.
