Fished Mantua yesterday with my son and grandson. Caught a lot of bluegills, a few perch, a nice rainbow, and a fat 10" LMB. We used flies and small plastic jigs. We did not have any problem launching the boat or any problems with the weeds even though they come to the surface in places. My grandson was impressed with the fishing and that his bass came in wrapped in weeds just like a christmas present.

Thanks for the report, what area of the lake did you fish? were you jigging or trolling? I've heard the bluegill were getting big, was there any size to the ones you caught? Thanks for the info. WH2

We fished all over the lake. No area seemed any better than the rest, except we did better in the holes between the weeds where the water was between 10 and 17 feet deep. We fished trout flies, panfish flies and plastic curly tails without weight behind a water filled bubble retreived very slowly.

The bluegill and the perch are both good sized. The bigist gill on this trip was 6oz. But on the last trip one was 1 LB.
