I want to take the boys fishing at Jordanelle. They are excited about the smallies you guys have been getting. I need to know where I can access it from shore and not have to pay the fee if at all possible. What has been working best for the smallies? As always any info will be appreciated.

it would be hard, but if you go to the rock cliffs area, it is under construction, so you don't have to pay as far as I know. Park in the regular parking and if you give the construction zone a WIDE birth so you don't go near it. you can fish the south side there. It will take some pretty decent hiking and maybe some wading, but you should be able to find some good fishing.

[#502800]Tonight the smallies were crashing on top. Almost called you Nate, but I didn't want to bore just driving around for two hours. I did catch some big perchies.[/#502800]

Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to take the boys somewhere else to get some fishing in.

First time posting here, been reading for a long time though.
My wife and I fished Jordanelle this morning, lots of small perch shallow. Moved out to 25' depth about a quarter mile down the Rock Cliff arm from the main channel and started hitting small (14 - 16") smallies laying senco's and maniacs on the bottom. Color didn't seem to make much difference. Nothing under 14". Ended up with 11 smallies. Caught 1 8' planter rainbow on the way back to the marina. Took home a few 9+ inch perch for dinner. Beautiful weather, water like glass most of the day. Fun time.

Same pettern I found. 25 ft down, right smack on the bottom, vertical, or lay it dead.
Glad to see the same pattern at jordanelle.

It's been a while since I fished Jordanelle from shore but the last time I did there were two areas you could fish for free. One was on the North end of the lake, take the Park city exit and head toward Kamas. As you drive by the North end, you will see the old road that goes down toward the water. The last time I was there you had to park along this road and walk the rest of the way down, about a quarter mile if I remember correctly. The old road bed is a good place to start fishing, Leaky was fishing this area a lot last year. The second area that was free is right when you get off the exit to the main marina, go over the overpass and turn left(North), go by the Motel/Hotel and follow the road down to an area that you can park that is near the water. There use to be several areas to park but again it was little walk to the water. This could have changed so Senkonate might be right about no access. WH2
