Fished Mantua Sunday for 3 hrs with Yper Jr., my nephew and his 8 year old son Kaden. Fishing was very slow with only landing 3 large mouths and this over 11 inch fat perch that Kaden landed.

All fish were caught on 1.5 inch green and red sparkle tube jig, jigging right under the boat in 7 to 14 ft of water and 100 yrds from boat docks.

X-man, mantua has some of the states best perch fishing for size. numbers are good, but not as high as other lakes.
Size though is very good on average for real hog perch.

According to the DWR the perch wont take long to overpopulate in such a small body of water, stunt, and ravage the lake.
But for now, theres some nice ones in there.
People should be aware that the bait restriction is being removed in order to help people catch the perch so that we can get them out of the lake.
